Bengali movie Abhayer Biye, starring Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee, Bikash Roy, Chhabi Biswas, Jahar Ganguly, Tulsi Chakrabarty, Santosh Sinha, Pranati Ghosh, Sobha Sen, Aparna Debi was released in 1957. Produced under the banner Sree Chitram the movie was directed by Sukumar Dasgupta and story was written by Naresh Chandra Sengupta. Robin Chatterjee scored the music in the movie, while Pranab Roy penned down the lyrics. In the movie Uttam kumar played the role of Abhay. Every one called ‘Abhay’ by this name because of his intelligence and brilliance. Soon his parents got him engaged. In the meantime Abhay’s uncle had a heart attack and had to depend on Abhay. One day Abhay’s mother sent him to Maya’s house. Maya (Sabitri Chatterjee) used to ridicule Abhay for his rustic upbringing and poverty. Abhay, however, was not perturbed by the mockeries. Soon Maya realised her vanity and fell in love with Abhay.

This movie always touches my heart. I have seen this movie many times but still demanding. Those who are staying far away from their family and parents will obviously feel this movie.

Thanks for uploading this movie. It is a nice story with superb acting by Uttam Kumar, Sabitri Chatterjee and Bikash Roy.
