Bangla movie “Gali Theke Rajpath” was released in 1959. The movie is directed by Prafulla Chakraborty, produced by Pradip Moitra and story by Prafulla Chakrabroty, while Sudhin Dasgupta scored the music in the movie. In the movie Raja (Uttam kumar) is a petty pickpocket who rejoins Bhola (Anup Kumar) after his release from jail. One day, a girl Mala (Sabitri Chatterjee) arrives in their neighborhood with her father. They rescued her time and again from the hands of a lecherous man Gobardhan. In the meantime, Raja and Bhola get acquainted with a businessman Mr Datta and made him into lending them money for a business which doesn’t exist. Mr Datta decides to give them the money as well as goods against which they would get concession if they could sell them. Greed gets the better of them and they decide not to return the money as well as the goods. One day Raja and Bhola are seen picking someone’s pocket in a bus in which Mala was also travelling. She comes to know of Raja’s actual identity which she was unware off. Now having lost Mala’s love, Raja decides to reform himself and becomes a changed man. He approaches Mr datta and tells him the actual truth. Mr. Datta was aware of the truth all the time and says he was testing Raja all this while. He goes and meets Mala and asks her to forgive Raja. Raja once again regains Mala’s love and the movie ends on a happy note.
